* Promises are often conditional. Look for the word "if" in the context.
* God gives us promises to help us better submit to His will and to trust Him (comfort us too).
A promise does not make God bend to our will.
(There are times I am ashamed to say I am guilty of trying to manipulate God and use Scripture to get Him to do things I want.
"Lord,
the Word says its not good for man to be alone and that if I delight in you you'll give me the desires of my heart.
Well,
I'm alone according to You that's not good.
I am delighting in You...")
* Do not assume to know when,
where,
or how the promise will be fulfilled in our lives.
God's ways our better than our ways.
His timing is best and He does uses all things for the good to those who love God...(Do I really love you God - love you with all of my heart,
sould,
mind,
& strength?
)
